She worked as an emergency medicine specialist at the Emergency Medicine Clinic of İzmir Atatürk Training and Research Hospital (2006-2010). In 2010 she joined the Department of Emergency Medicine of Ege University. She became Associate Professor in 2017. She is a founding member of the Ultrasonography Working Group of the Emergency Medicine Association of Türkiye and chaired it for 2 terms. She also serves as an instructor in the disaster medicine and critical care working groups. After the February 2023 earthquake, she worked as a volunteer at Mustafa Kemal University in Hatay. After the earthquake, she led the “Psychological Support Project for Emergency Department Workers” in the region for 1 year on behalf of the Emergency Medicine Association of Türkiye. She also leads the TATD Disaster School Project. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Emergency Medicine Association of Türkiye and currently serves as Vice President. Her areas of interest are emergency ultrasonography, critical patient management, disasters and forensic emergencies.

He served as Chief Physician of Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Hospital between 2016 and 2020, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine in 2021, and Vice Rector of Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University in 2021-2022. Prof. Dr. Okhan AKDUR currently serves as Prof. Dr. at the Department of Emergency Medicine of Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University.

For more than 10 years he has been organising and teaching courses for young academics on statistics, epidemiology, research methodology, medical writing, meta-analysis, systematic literature review and critical appraisal. As a pioneer in the digitalisation of emergency medicine education in Türkiye, he founded Acilci.Net, the country's largest and most visited Free Open Access Medical Education (FOAMed) platform, and Akamedika, an initiative focused on remote academic development training. He is also the bassist of Rule/Out, the Turkish rock cover band beloved by the emergency medicine community.

Having passed the examinations held by the Ministry of Health, I was appointed Chief Resident (Başasistan) at Istanbul Bakırköy Dr. Sadi Konuk Training and Research Hospital. In September 2017 I began working at University of Health Sciences Adana City Training and Research Hospital. In December 2020 I became Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine. I currently work as Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Emergency Medicine Clinic of University of Health Sciences Adana City Training and Research Hospital. Around 161 of my scientific articles have been published in peer-reviewed journals, 113 in international and 48 in national journals. In addition, I have 15 papers presented at international congresses and 46 oral and poster presentations, as well as invited lectures at national and international congresses and symposia. Besides book editing, I have authored many chapters in books published in Turkish. As an educator, I have taught many resident and nurse courses. I have supervised 10 emergency medicine residency theses, and I have published all the theses I supervised as original scientific articles in journals indexed in international and national databases. I took part in the establishment and certification of the Phase 1 Clinical Research Center, the twelfth in our country and the third among our city hospitals, where I also currently serve as emergency unit officer. Ahmet Baydın, who has been honored with the incentive award by TUBITAK at various times, also serves as a consultant in international and national medical journals. Ahmet Baydin is a member of the Turkish Emergency Medicine Association and the National Trauma and Emergency Surgery Association.

She is currently pursuing a doctorate in Public Health – Health Promotion and Education at the University of the Philippines – Manila. His main areas of interest are resuscitation, airway management, point-of-care ultrasound and evidence-based emergency medicine. He was among the authors of the EMAT/TATD airway management (2026) and tranexamic acid (2024) guidelines, and serves as site lead in TATD's multicentre studies.
He is an associate editor of the Anatolian Journal of Emergency Medicine and Abant Medical Journal, chair of the TATD Media and Communication Committee, and an instructor of the TATD Ultrasonography Working Group.

After completing his residency at the Department of Emergency Medicine, Akdeniz University, in 2019, he worked as an Emergency Medicine Specialist at Antalya Training and Research Hospital. Since 2022 he has been working as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Emergency Medicine, Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine.
He joined the TATD Ultrasonography Working Group (TATDUS) in 2016. Since 2019 he has served as an instructor at many national and international courses and congresses.
Within TATDUS he has served as course coordinator and as a member of the web and social media team.
Between 2023 and 2025 he served as Secretary of the International Emergency Medicine Commission of the Emergency Medicine Association of Türkiye. He is an instructor in the EUSEM ultrasound group and within WINFOCUS Türkiye.

The same year Dr. Kayıpmaz was appointed to the Scientific Advisory Board on Health Policies for Health Financing of the Social Security Institution (SGK) and assigned as an expert to the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (TBMM) Commission of Inquiry into Infant Deaths and Private Healthcare Institutions. From the opening of Ankara Etlik City Hospital on 28 September 2022 until 30 May 2025, Dr. Kayıpmaz worked there as Coordinating Deputy Chief Physician and Education Supervisor of the Emergency Medicine Clinic, and has since held the same positions at Ankara Bilkent City Hospital. Dr. Kayıpmaz speaks English well and is a member of the Health Board of the Turkish Weightlifting Federation.

She is the founder of the Nutrigenetics and Epigenetics Association in Türkiye and the United Kingdom, and provides Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training for healthcare professionals.
With numerous national and international scientific publications, Prof. Dr. Meral has served as an editorial board member and reviewer for various academic journals. She chaired the First, Second and Third International Epigenetics Congresses, and has taken part as an invited speaker and session chair at many scientific congresses abroad. After completing primary and secondary education in Trabzon, Dr. Şener was admitted to Ankara University Faculty of Medicine and graduated in June 2004. Dr. Şener then placed into the Department of Emergency Medicine, Gazi University Faculty of Medicine, in the Medical Specialty Examination and became a specialist in January 2010.
Dr. Şener subsequently worked at various hospitals in Ankara, including the Emergency Medicine Clinic of Ankara Atatürk Training and Research Hospital, the Emergency Medicine Clinic of Gülhane Military Medical Academy, Ankara Private Medicana Hospital, and in various temporary assignments. In 2019 Dr. Şener was appointed Asst. Prof. Dr. at the Emergency Medicine Clinic of Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University Faculty of Medicine, and from February 2019 continued there with the establishment of Ankara Bilkent City Hospital. Having become Associate Professor on 22 September 2022, Alp Şener continues an academic career as Associate Professor at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University Faculty of Medicine and Ankara Bilkent City Hospital. Academic interests include resuscitation, pain, local and regional anesthesia, research methodology and biostatistics.
A member of the Emergency Medicine Association of Türkiye (TATD), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alp Şener chairs the association's Emergency Medicine Academy commission and serves as associate editor of its official journal, the Turkish Journal of Emergency Medicine.

In 2021 he moved to the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Health Sciences Trabzon Faculty of Medicine, where he currently serves as Head of the Department.
Between 2012 and 2013 he worked for one year as a researcher at the University of Utah in the United States, completing a research fellowship programme, and he has an upper-intermediate level of English.
Prof. Dr. Süleyman Türedi, who has supervised dozens of theses and projects, contributed to the training of hundreds of students including medical students and residents, has more than 120 international publications and over 3,000 citations, and has served as editor and author of various books, is one of the leading scientists in his field in our country. Having served for many years as editor of the Turkish Journal of Emergency Medicine, one of the most respected scientific journals in our country, and currently a member of its editorial board, Dr. Türedi serves as an editorial board member and reviewer for various scientific journals.
He is one of the few scientists in his specialty who is a member of TUKMOS (Medical Specialty Curriculum Development and Standard-Setting System), affiliated with the Medical Specialty Board (TUK) of the Ministry of Health.
He has held management roles in many non-governmental organisations and served as President of the Emergency Medicine Association of Türkiye between 2019 and 2021. Previously, he served three terms as a board member and one term as general secretary of the same association. He has contributed to the planning and execution of hundreds of scientific activities.
Between 2019 and 2023, Prof. Dr. Süleyman TÜREDİ served as Chief Physician of the 710-bed University of Health Sciences Trabzon Kanuni Training and Research Hospital, one of the largest public healthcare institutions in Trabzon. During the Covid-19 pandemic in particular, this institution became the reference hospital for the province of Trabzon and served as the most effective healthcare institution in the fight against the pandemic both in Trabzon and in the Eastern Black Sea region.
He is a congress member of Trabzonspor. His hobbies include all sports, especially football, as well as fishing, hunting, photography and nature trips. -

Dr. Yeşilaras began his professional career at the private İzmir Kent Hospital between 2004 and 2008, and started working at İzmir Tepecik Training and Research Hospital in 2010. He continues to serve at the same institution, where he became Associate Professor in 2016.
Throughout his career he has held positions within the Emergency Medicine Association of Türkiye such as chair of the Ultrasonography Working Group and of the Critical Care Group. Dr. Yeşilaras is also Board certified and a member of the Emergency Medicine Board of Proficiency. He also serves as associate editor of the Turkish Journal of Emergency Medicine (TRJEM). -

Cuma YıldırımGaziantep University, TürkiyeI was born in Gaziantep in 1969. I completed my primary, secondary and high school education in Gaziantep. In 1987 I entered Ankara University Faculty of Medicine and graduated from the same faculty in 1994.
In 1994 I started as a research assistant at the Department of Emergency Medicine, Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine. During my residency I worked as a rotating resident at the Department of Emergency Medicine, Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine.
I became an Emergency Medicine Specialist after passing the specialty examination in 1999. I then started working as a Lecturer at the Department of Emergency Medicine, Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine.
During this period I served as a founding faculty member of the Erciyes University Paramedic Program and taught courses in this program.
In 2000 I transferred to Gaziantep University Faculty of Medicine Emergency Department as a lecturer.
In 2002 I became an Assistant Professor and served as a founding faculty member of the Department of Emergency Medicine, Gaziantep University Faculty of Medicine. At the same time I became Head of the Department.
In 2004 I worked as an observer physician at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, Kings County Hospital and Bellevue Hospital Center in New York, United States, to improve my knowledge and skills.
In 2005 I became Deputy Chief Physician of Gaziantep University Şahinbey Research Hospital and held this post until 2008. In the same year I served as founder of the Gaziantep University Paramedic Program.
I became Associate Professor of emergency medicine in 2006 and Professor of emergency medicine in 2011. In 2009 I began teaching courses in English in the English Medicine program opened at the Faculty of Medicine. I still teach emergency medicine courses in the English program of the Faculty of Medicine.
In 2018 I became a founding faculty member of the Department of Clinical Toxicology at the Gaziantep University Institute of Health Sciences and became Head of the Department.
In 2019 I became coordinator of the internship program of the Faculty of Medicine. In November 2021 I also became Chair of the Health Board.
From 2004 I was a member of the Board of Directors of the Emergency Physicians Association of Turkey (ATUDER) and held this post for 10 years. Within the same association I served as Chair of the Board of Competency.
Also in 2004 I became Editor-in-Chief of the Academic Emergency Medicine Journal and served as editor-in-chief for 10 years. During this period I published 45 issues. About 30 of these issues were published in English and were included in international indexes. Also, “the DOI (Digital Object Identifier) application in scientific articles in our country was first initiated by me during this period.”
In 2009 the journal Emergency Medicine Case Reports was launched by me. This journal is a case reports journal that started publication in the country.
Between 2000 and 2010 I was responsible for the Trauma and Resuscitation course in Southeastern Anatolia for 10 years.
In 2011, on behalf of the Emergency Medicine Association, I presented the measures needed to prevent violence in healthcare to the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) Commission on the Prevention of Violence in Healthcare. This report was included in the work of the Parliamentary Commission on the Prevention of Violence in Healthcare.
Throughout my academic career I have taken part as coordinator and speaker in many congresses, symposia, courses and panels. I have many publications in emergency medicine, particularly on ‘Emergency department management, Clinical Toxicology and Bedside
Ultrasonography’.
In 2011 I became a founding member of the Gaziantep-based ‘Academic Thought and Research Association’ and served as its president for 7 years.
During this period I organized 1 national symposium (Symposium on Revitalizing Our Educational Life) under the association’s responsibility. I also organized many panels, meetings and conference programs on the social problems of the country and the region.
Since 2014 I have been a member of the Board of Competency and the Toxicology working group under the Emergency Medicine Association of Türkiye (TATD).
In 2011, in a vote by all emergency medicine specialists across the country, I was elected Chair of the Emergency Medicine Specialty Board (TUKMOS) of the Ministry of Health Medical Specialty Board (TUK). I held this post for 5 years. During this time I was instrumental in preparing the first Core Training Program (ÇEP). The same ÇEP is still in use.
I am currently a faculty member at the Department of Emergency Medicine, Gaziantep University Faculty of Medicine. I am Head of the Department of Emergency Medicine, Head of the Division of Clinical Toxicology, coordinator of the Faculty of Medicine internship program and Chair of the Health Board.
I am married with 3 children (2 daughters and 1 son). -

Prof. Dr. Çağdaş Yıldırım, an academic and emergency medicine specialist, was born in Antalya on 19 November 1986. After completing primary and secondary education in Antalya, Dr. Yıldırım graduated from Eskişehir Osmangazi University Faculty of Medicine in June 2010. Dr. Yıldırım then placed into the Emergency Medicine Clinic of Ankara Atatürk Training and Research Hospital in the Medical Specialty Examination and became an Emergency Medicine Specialist in January 2016.
After completing compulsory service at Kahramanmaraş Elbistan State Hospital between 2016 and 2018, Dr. Yıldırım was appointed Asst. Prof. Dr. at the Department of Emergency Medicine, Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University Faculty of Medicine, in 2018, and from February 2019 continued there with the establishment of Ankara Bilkent City Hospital. Dr. Yıldırım became Associate Professor in January 2026. Academic interests include resuscitation, ultrasonography, pain and medical education.
Dr. Yıldırım is an American Heart Association (AHA) certified Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support instructor.
Dr. Yıldırım is a member of the Emergency Medicine Association of Türkiye (TATD) and also serves as Chair of its Resuscitation Working Group.
Dr. Yıldırım is married and the father of a daughter.

and residency in Emergency Medicine at Bezmialem Vakıf University between 2005 and 2011.
Dr. Karakuş Yılmaz began academic work in medical law in 2014 at the Graduate Education Institute of Istanbul Medeniyet University, completed a master's degree with thesis in 2019, and in 2020 started the PhD programme in Medical Law at the same university, which is still ongoing. Dr. Karakuş Yılmaz became Associate Professor in 2018 at the Emergency Medicine Clinic of Şişli Hamidiye Etfal Training and Research Hospital and Professor in 2023 at Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University Faculty of Medicine. After three and a half years at the Emergency Clinic of Alanya Training and Research Hospital, Prof. Dr. Banu Karakuş Yılmaz took office as Chief Physician of Alanya Training and Research Hospital on 17 July 2025.

He is currently a faculty member at the Department of Emergency Medicine, Kocaeli University Faculty of Medicine, and is responsible for the institution’s disaster preparedness and medical service coordination processes. His academic work focuses on the development of emergency health services, disaster management, health system resilience and the strengthening of field organisations.
In addition to the academic positions he has held since 2005, he has taken part in preparing disaster and emergency training programmes as a member of the Training Commission of the National Medical Rescue Teams (UMKE) within the Ministry of Health. After the 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquakes he served in the field as regional health coordinator, contributing to the planning and coordination of post-disaster health services. In the same year he served as a consultant at the World Health Organization (WHO) Azerbaijan Office, working on the assessment and development of the country’s emergency health system capacity.
Prof. Dr. Yılmaz served as President of the Board of Directors of the Emergency Medicine Association of Türkiye (EMAT) between 2021 and 2023, and has held various positions in the association’s management since 2017. He also serves internationally as a Council Member of the European Society for Emergency Medicine (EuSEM). He is also active in the Coordination Board of Specialty Associations and Competence Boards of the Turkish Medical Association, contributing to the strengthening of professional standards at the national level.
His scientific publications include numerous articles on disaster management, field organisation and emergency medicine systems published in national and international journals. His recent studies, published in the Turkish Journal of Emergency Medicine, Prehospital and Disaster Medicine and the Bulletin of Earthquake Engineering, present field observations and system assessments of disaster medicine practices in Türkiye.
Prof. Dr. Serkan Yılmaz continues his academic, administrative and field duties in clinical emergency medicine, disaster management and health system development, and continues national and international collaborations in these fields.

She is a member of the 16th-term Board of Directors of the Emergency Medicine Association of Türkiye and holds the Emergency Medicine Board Certificate. She has served as an instructor and coordinator at the congresses and symposia organised by the Association. Her special interests are trauma, wound care and interventional procedures, and pain management.
She is married and the mother of two sons. In her spare time she attends games as a full-time “Basketball Starting Five Parent”. -
