The WINFOCUS (World Interactive Network Focused On Critical Ultrasound) – TATDUS collaboration will present the “Focused Echocardiography – FOCUS” course in Turkey for the second time. This course is designed for all clinicians involved in critical patient care, including emergency medicine, anesthesia, intensive care, internal medicine, general surgery, pulmonary diseases, and neurology. The course (formerly known as Winfocus Basic Echo WBE) has been held 140 times since 2008 and delivered in over 50 countries worldwide. The educational content is based on the 1st International Consensus Conference on Focused Cardiac Ultrasound (Via G Hussain A et al., International Evidence-Based Recommendations for Focused Cardiac Ultrasound – J AM SOC ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY 2014).

Course Format:

The course will be delivered in a hybrid format. The theoretical part will be available in English through the WINFOCUS platform. Participants will receive access via a password, which will be available for one month. The recorded lectures can be viewed multiple times. The practical sessions will be held in Turkish. Watching the theoretical content before the practical sessions on November 14, 2024, will help enhance the learning experience. Participants who complete the post-test successfully and attend the practical sessions will receive a “WINFOCUS FOCUS Course Participation Certificate.”

Course Content:

The course is aimed at beginners in cardiac ultrasound and includes the use of Transthoracic Echocardiography (TTE) for the rapid assessment of unstable patients encountered in intensive care units and emergency departments during cardiac arrest, peri-resuscitation, and shock situations. The course will also benefit more experienced echocardiographers by aligning ultrasound evaluations with ALS algorithms for critically ill patients.
