Professor Haldun Akoğlu is a respected educator and researcher with over 100 publications and more than 7,000 citations, working in trauma, clinical decision rules, diagnostic accuracy studies, statistics, and research science. He has served in various roles within the Emergency Medicine Association of Turkey (EMAT), including three terms as a Board Member, Chairman of the Media Committee, Chairman of the Education Committee, President of the Emergency Medicine Academy, and Editor-in-Chief of the Turkish Journal of Emergency Medicine. For over 10 years, he has organized and conducted courses for young academicians on statistics, epidemiology, research methodology, medical writing, meta-analysis, systematic literature review, and critical appraisal. As a pioneer in the digitalization of emergency medicine education in Turkey, he founded Acilci.Net, the country’s largest and most visited Free Open Access Medical Education (FOAMed) platform. Recently, he founded Akamedika, an initiative focused on distance education and faculty development. He is also the bassist of Rule/Out, a popular Turkish rock cover band within the emergency medicine community.
