About EM-IDEA
At EACEM 2026, we are opening a new space where ideas are shared, skills are experienced, and congress participants are not just spectators but an active part of the process: EM-IDEA. EM-IDEA.
EM-IDEA is a dynamic activity area that allows creative ideas, educational practices, skills, and innovative approaches in Emergency Medicine to be demonstrated, tried out, and shared interactively with participants in the congress setting.
Here, we are aiming for more than a classic oral or poster presentation. We want participants to come to your table, see your idea, try out your application, experience a skill, and take part in a game or mini competition.
Do you have an educational idea, a material you have developed, a project, or a product? Would you like to teach a skill, run an interactive session, or organize an educational game or mini competition?
Bring your idea; turn it into an experience at EM-IDEA.
Bring Your Idea
EM-IDEA is open to applications from all EACEM 2026 congress participants.
Emergency medicine residents, specialists, academics, working groups, and all EACEM 2026 participants who wish to share an idea related to emergency medicine education or practice with congress participants are welcome to apply.
Participants from different institutions and disciplines may form a team around the same idea.
At EM-IDEA, what matters is not your academic title or years of experience; what matters is having an idea worth sharing and an activity design that engages participants in the process.
EM-IDEA is not limited to a specific topic. Ideas related to the practice, education, and development of emergency medicine that can be shared interactively with congress participants will be considered.
Applications may, for example, take the following formats:
- Skill stations: Airway management, mechanical ventilation, ultrasonography, resuscitation, trauma procedures, interventional procedures, or similar practical skills
- Educational practices: New teaching methods, simulations, case-based practices, or short educational activities
- Gamified education: Quizzes, card games, board games, or mini competitions
- Educational materials: Mock-ups, models, cards, posters, algorithms, checklists, or original educational tools
- Projects and innovative ideas: Ideas and projects aimed at improving emergency department operations, patient care, or education
- Digital applications: Digital tools, applications, and interactive content for education or clinical practice
- Participant experiences Interactive activities in which congress participants are directly involved, trying, solving, or creating something
Other creative ideas beyond these are also welcome. The main expectation is that the activity can be carried out in the EM-IDEA area and engages with congress participants.
- Applicants to EM-IDEA must be EACEM 2026 congress participants.
- Applications will be submitted via the EM-IDEA Application Form.
- The application should briefly describe the purpose, content, and format of the activity, and how participants will be involved.
- The proposed activity is expected to be feasible around a table in the EM-IDEA area and designed to allow interaction with congress participants.
- Educational materials, mock-ups, simulation equipment, printed documents, game materials, or other activity-specific materials will be prepared and provided by the applicant team.
- If stickers, small gifts, refreshments, or competition prizes are planned to be distributed to participants, providing them is also the responsibility of the applicant team.
- The content described in the application is expected to be appropriate for the congress setting and to comply with scientific and professional ethical principles.
- The number of accepted activities may be limited according to the physical capacity of the EM-IDEA area.
- The activity schedule and table assignments for accepted applications will be communicated to applicants separately.
Share Your Idea
EM-IDEA is designed as an interactive congress area where participants do not just watch; they approach, try, practice, ask questions, and become part of the activity.
Each accepted team will share its idea or activity with congress participants in its allocated area. How the activity is presented, how the table is used, and how participants are involved will be left largely to the team’s creativity.
The aim is not to give a long presentation, but to create an activity that quickly connects with participants, sparks curiosity, and is as experience-based as possible.
Each EM-IDEA team will be provided with:
- An activity table
- A plain backdrop/display area where presentations, posters, algorithms, visuals, or similar content can be placed.
Teams may arrange this area according to the nature of their activity. Educational materials, mock-ups, simulation tools, cards, game materials, printed documents, or digital applications may be used on the table.
The arrangement of the area should not obstruct the use of other EM-IDEA tables or disrupt the functioning of the shared congress area.
Each EM-IDEA activity may be run by a team of 2–4 people.
The division of tasks within the team will be left entirely to the team’s own planning.
The key feature of EM-IDEA is interaction.
Therefore, activities are expected not to be limited to visual or verbal explanation alone, but to involve congress participants in the process as much as possible.
Participants may:
- Try out a skill,
- Solve a case or problem,
- Take part in a simulation,
- Use an educational material,
- Join a game or mini competition,
- Test a digital application,
- Exchange views directly with team members about the idea.
Activities are recommended to be planned so that they are as short, clear, and repeatable as possible, and can be experienced by different participants throughout the day.
The EM-IDEA organization will primarily provide teams with a table and display area.
Activity-specific:
- Educational materials
- Mock-ups
- Simulation equipment
- Printed documents
- Game materials
- Tablets, computers, or similar digital tools
- Other special equipment and materials required for the activity will be prepared and provided by the applicant team.
If teams wish to give participants stickers, chocolates, small gifts, or competition prizes, providing them is also the responsibility of the applicant team.
Teams with special technical or physical requirements are advised to state these needs in their application.
Win with Your Idea
Each EM-IDEA table will have an activity-specific QR code. Congress participants will be able to vote via this QR code for the ideas or activities they visited, experienced, and liked.
The aim is not only to determine a winner, but also to highlight the ideas that attracted the most interest and interaction from congress participants.
EM-IDEA activities will be evaluated based on the votes they receive from congress participants.
At the end of the event, the idea/activity receiving the most participant votes will be awarded the IDEA AWARD.
Details regarding the winning team and the award presentation will be announced separately as part of the congress program.
