Prof. Dr. Afşin Emre Kayıpmaz was born in 1983 in Sivas, Türkiye. He graduated from Isparta Anatolian High School in 2001 and from Süleyman Demirel University Faculty of Medicine in 2007. In 2007, he completed an internship at RWTH Aachen University in Germany. In 2005, he was elected President of the Süleyman Demirel University Student Council and served in this position during 2005–2006. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Başkent University Faculty of Medicine between 2008 and 2012. From 2012 to 2014, he worked as an Emergency Medicine Specialist at Sivas Numune Hospital. Between 2014 and 2019, he served as a faculty member at Başkent University, where he also held positions on the Faculty Board, Faculty Executive Board, and Faculty Disciplinary Board. He was awarded the title of Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine in 2018. Following the opening of Ankara Bilkent City Hospital, he joined the institution and served as Emergency Medicine Residency Program Director (Emergency Medicine Clinic Education Supervisor) between 2019 and 2022. During this period, he was also a member of the Clinical Research Ethics Committee and Deputy Director of the Clinical Research Center. In 2020, he was appointed to the Scientific Advisory Board of the Ministry of Health, established during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2024, he was appointed as a Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Health Sciences, Ankara City (Bilkent) Health Application and Research Center. In the same year, he was appointed to the Scientific Advisory Board on Health Policies for Health Financing of the Social Security Institution (SGK) and assigned as an Expert to the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye’s Commission for the Investigation of Infant Deaths and Private Health Institutions. From the opening of Ankara Etlik City Hospital on 28 September 2022 until 30 May 2025, he served as Coordinator Deputy Chief Physician and Emergency Medicine Residency Program Director. Since that date, he has continued his role as Coordinator Deputy Chief Physician and Emergency Medicine Residency Program Director at Ankara Bilkent City Hospital. He is proficient in English (YÖKDİL: 88.75) and serves as a member of the Health Committee of the Turkish Weightlifting Federation.
