Serpil Yaylacı

Prof. Yaylacı has been a faculty member in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Biruni University since 2023.
She graduated from Dokuz Eylul University School of Medicine and completed her residency in emergency medicine there in 1999. With over 25 years of leadership experience in emergency medicine, Prof. Yaylacı previously served as the Director of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Acibadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University (AMAAU). In 2014, she established an Internship Emergency Medicine Boot Camp in the Simulation Lab at AMAAU, which she coordinated until 2023. From 2015 to 2019, she served as the Medical Director for the Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) Course in Turkey under the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT). She was the Chair of the Medical Simulation and Education Development Committees within the Emergency Medicine Association of Turkey (EMAT). She values maximizing the potential of women in emergency medicine and has worked in the EMAT Women's Committee for this purpose. Before her position at Biruni University, she held efficient roles for many years, including School of Medicine, Emergency Medicine Internship Coordinator and Head of Vocational School of Health Services, First and Emergency Aid Program at AMAAU.
She is a Turkish Board-certified emergency physician and currently serves on the Examination Committee for the Turkish Board of Emergency Medicine (TBEM).
Prof. Yaylacı has published articles on medical education, advocating for a student-centered, comprehensive approach to training that fosters lifelong learning and encourages students to take responsibility and lead in their development as healthcare professionals.
