Benjamin W. Friedman, MD, MS, is a Professor of Emergency Medicine and Vice Chair for Clinical Investigation in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center/ Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York. Dr. Friedman earned his MD from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, completed his residency at Jacobi/Montefiore, and his research fellowship at the same institution. Dr. Friedman is a board-certified emergency medicine physician dedicated to evidence-based care, focusing his research efforts on acute pain management—including headache and low back pain—as well as the judicious use of opioids in the emergency department.
Dr. Friedman’s scholarly contributions are extensive and highly impactful. He has authored numerous randomized controlled trials, systematic reviews, and clinical guidelines addressing acute management strategies for migraine, headache, and low back pain in emergency settings His research has advanced understanding of patient outcomes and functional recovery after ED visits and has shaped clinical practice guidelines nationwide.
