Višnja Nesek Adam is a full professor at the University of North Varaždin and at the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health, Osijek, and a dedicated scientist specializing in anesthesiology and emergency medicine. She currently serves as the Head of the Department of Anesthesiology, Resuscitation, and Intensive Care, as well as the Head of the Emergency Department at Clinical Hospital Sveti Duh in Zagreb, and she is the President of the Croatian Society for Emergency Medicine.
Over the course of her distinguished career, Prof. Nesek Adam has published over 110 peer-reviewed articles, three monographs, and twelve textbook chapters, making substantial contributions to the fields of perioperative safety, intensive care and emergency medicine at both national and international levels. She has also played a transformative role in Croatian medical publishing by founding the scientific journal Annales Medicinae Urgentis, and she remains deeply committed to the education and mentorship of students, residents, and doctoral candidates, having organized numerous courses, workshops, and congresses to foster professional growth and knowledge exchange.
A frequent speaker at international conferences, Prof. Nesek Adam combines her clinical expertise and research experience with a strong commitment to teaching and mentorship. She supports the development of students, residents, and early-career professionals, encouraging curiosity, critical thinking, and evidence-based practice, and through her guidance, she continues to advance the fields of emergency and intensive care medicine in Croatia and internationally.
