Dr. Schmitz is Associate Professor, Department of Military and Emergency Medicine, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences; Vice Chair of Education, Brooke Army Medical Center; and Adjunct Associate Professor, University of Texas Health, San Antonio, TX. She has had an extensive career in academics and clinical experience in urban, suburban, government, academic and free-standing emergency practice settings. She served as academic faculty at Wilford Hall Medical Center, Washington Hospital Center / Georgetown University, University of California at San Diego, University of Texas San Antonio, and Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC). She has also been involved with emergency medicine research and is a former EMF grant recipient, published author, and reviewer for several medical journals.
